This partnership will provide essential project management training specifically designed for environmental and consulting professionals
Calgary, AB – ECO Canada and Meridus Management Inc. (Meridus) are announcing a long-term strategic partnership to provide skill development in critical project management concepts through online learning. Meridus brings decades of experience to project management training delivery for organizations and will work with champions of the environmental workforce, ECO Canada, to provide project management training specifically for workers in the environmental, natural resource, and clean technology sectors.
Meridus’ course, Project Management Essentials, is an interactive online course that addresses fundamental skill gaps related to communication and management of key project constraints including scope, budget, schedule, and quality. This new online course is available through ECO Canada’s website and is a practical learning tool, regardless of the individual’s role in the project.
“We believe project management skills should not be reserved for a select few, rather, this is an important skill set that needs to be understood by everyone in an organization,” said Leroy Banack, co-founder of Meridus and senior partner of F&M Management Ltd. “Execution of project management activities can make or break business operations – environmental executives have stated that failures due to poor project management are by far their greatest reason for financial write-offs.”
ECO Canada is a leader in environmental labour market research and provides workforce training and solutions to support the growing sector. In a recent ECO Canada survey, close to 700 Canadian employers identified communication, collaboration, report writing, attitude, and project management as the top power skills considered paramount to career success.
“Project management is the number one skill requested regardless of experience level”, says Angie Huk, Vice President of Marketing at ECO Canada. “Having strong power skills has become increasingly important for individuals to be successful in environmental practice. Employees with strong project management expertise can create tremendous value for their employer, especially in a business model where the talent forms the basis for service delivery.”
The course is currently available in English. A French version is currently being developed, along with additional modules that will dive deeper into the key components of environmental project management. For more information on ECO Canada’s workforce solutions visit their website.
