Climate Action Adaptation: Opportunities for Emission Reduction
The 2030 Emissions Reduction Plan: Canada’s Next Steps for Clean Air and a Strong Economy outlines a sector-by-sector path for Canada to reach its emissions reduction target of 40 percent below 2005 levels by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
So, what are greenhouse gas emissions?
Greenhouse gases trap heat and make the planet warmer. Climate change is caused by the increase in concentrations of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere. These increases are primarily due to GHG emissions resulting from human activities. The largest source of greenhouse gas emissions from human activities are often burning fossil fuels for electricity, heat, and transportation.
This changing climate has impacts on the environment, human health and the economy.
Are you looking to reduce your emissions for your business?
It can be tough for a business to know where to begin. How big is your footprint? What should you set as a goal?
Canada has established ambitious emissions reduction targets, aiming for a 40-45% reduction by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050. Small and Medium businesses, responsible for roughly 30% of Canada’s emissions, are pivotal in achieving these goals.
ECO Canada is actively collaborating with businesses to enhance operational efficiency, reduce emissions, and decrease carbon taxes. This approach, coined “Transition to Green,” not only aligns with environmental objectives but also makes strong business sense by lowering operational costs and minimizing environmental impact. We invite you to join us on October 4, 2023, at the Kahanoff Centre in Calgary, from 8:30 a.m. until Noon MT.
This event will feature a series of expert discussions centred around greenhouse gas management, as well as the challenges and opportunities for emission reduction specifically tailored for small and medium Businesses.
